IntroductionIn Armin Morbach’s United Planet Earth series animals and mankind come together in a way that has never been seen before. These portraits make a lasting impression with their profound expressiveness. Morbach colorfully paints human faces with animal prints. These colorful models deliver an important message – their display is a call for collective responsibility and care for our planet. The result is a special beauty, one that is impressive, ambitious, and fragile at the same time.
These artworks are a celebration of diversity and unity. Different color patterns of mandrill, mamba, chameleon, and exotic fish species are highlighted, emphasizing the biodiversity that makes our planet so unique. The habitats of these animals are threatened, and because of that the works also serve as a reminder of perhaps the greatest challenge of our time: environmental protection. For Armin Morbach there no doubt that this task is a global matter. That’s why he collaborated with young, multiethnic individuals. He deliberately crosses cultural boundaries to signify that we must all work together to preserve our planet.
Armin Morbach is a successful and experienced performer, both in the arts and in the lifestyle beauty world. For many years he has been active as a photographer, make-up artist, critic, and editor. His Magazine TUSH is dedicated to challenging tasks, such as discovering new perspectives on beauty and questioning existing notions and ideas. For Morbach, the social aspect of his work is of great importance. He is not interested in simply shooting a good-looking model with perfect make-up and hair, he wants to his work to break ground. He aims to create friction and provoke response from his audience. In 2017 he published Irony, a volume of unusual photographs that challenges the common beauty ideal. Armin Morbach is widely known for working alongside Heidi Klum as a juror on Germanys Next Top Model.
Morbach's work appears in renowned international magazines and are exhibited in numerous galleries. The Gundlach Collection is one of many that presents his creations.
