ONE DAY WITH TIMO VON EICKEN
A day defined by splashes of paint, flashes of thought, shifts in perspective, and an eccentric curiosity for the unexpected – spend a day with LUMAS artist Timo von Eicken.
7:00 AM
The day starts far too early for a night owl like me—with a blank mind, kids’ lunch boxes, and lots of coffee. Suddenly, a quirky flash of inspiration—my poor memory reminds me to scribble it down.
10:30 AM
As a passionate procrastinator, I take the long way to the studio. Ideas pop up everywhere: from smoking chimney sweeps to a tiny dog with an oversized bone. Finally at the studio, I start the day—maybe a quick chat with my friend over green tea to rewind after the long walk...
1:00 PM
I sit down at my computer and roughly sketch out my ideas from this morning. Then I glance at one or two unfinished canvases from the previous day. Today, for once, I’m actually satisfied with what I see. Painter’s clothes on, I start working, losing myself in the process.
3:00 PM
I’m having Hamburg’s best lentil soup for lunch. Then I remember that it’s my turn to pick up my son from his soccer training. I go home, this time without a detour. On my way, the sound of a plane and a circling seagull paint a picture in my head—an airplane with wings... I have to write that down immediatey.
9:00 PM
After dinner, I hop on my bike and head back to the studio. It’s quiet around me, only my mind is buzzing with ideas. I dive back into my world of paint—the night and I have always been good friends.
