Jorge Pardo explores the borders between art, design, and architecture in his works. His creative comments on the connections and repulsions of art objects and their daily uses have made an impression in particular. His is mainly preoccupied with the creation of furnishings.

His objects – various series of chairs, tables, and lamps, as well as his dock and sailboat – are consistently sculptural by nature. His goal of erasing the lines between exhibit and living space was realized in 1998 with a house he built for an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Here was Jorge Pardo’s private living space, exhibition space, and object in one.

In 1997 Pardo discovered the silkscreen, creating room dividers, wallpapers, and draperies within the framework of his pursuit of room design. The motifs' colorful floral patterns take their cue from 1960s textile design. The current combination of inkjet and hand-stenciled prints further vary the biomorphic motifs; rotating the print stencil produces a different print – with its own key nuances – every time. Breathing new life into the forms and colors of erstwhile decorating trends with his prints, Pardo's collective work sharpens and refreshes our perspective.
